About Todd Rockfield

Thanks to his older brother inundating him with Kiss Alive Todd Rockfield has been completly obsessed with guitars and guitar tone (and cream filled Zingers) for as long as he can remember. He decided at a very young age as he was watching an episode of the muppets, that in some shape or form he wanted to be surrounded by guitars and music for the rest of his life (Animal can have a strong influential effect on a young man). Through middle and high school and smattering of college to now, Todd Rockfield worked as a touring musician, guitar tech, beach bum, music retail and distribution and the occassional gig in telemarketing (to put taquitos on the table - a man needs to eat). Currently Todd runs a successful custom guitar parts company and does product development for a few major bass and guitar brands. Never far from the music scene, Rockfield constantly learns and earns his tonal chops slinging an axe in his band, "Harness The Habit".

Along the way, Todd constantly tinkered, built and researched pickups in order to figure out "what makes a sweet guitar a sweet guitar and why". In a purely self serving manner, Todd simply wanted to know and try anything that would make his personal guitar tone better for him! Todd is quoted as saying, "I wanted something different for me. I didnt want what everyone else was telling me I had to have or needed. I was not willing to settle for what was being shoved down my throat by the man!"

Rockfield has learned that there really isn't one part, one piece, wiring or brand that would foot the bill for every player across the board, including himself. The smallest changes in setup, constuction and design on any and every piece and part of a guitar can make a huge difference in all around tone!

Armed with the aggregate knowledge acquired with his diverse experiences, Rockfield embarked on a pilgrimage, fueled by mass amounts caffeine and 7-11 taquitos, to build the perfect humbucker for himself - his own personal tonal Mecca. After many years of trial and error, endless questions to some pretty heavy hitters, a really messy workbench and many bouts of indigestion, Rockfield Pickups were born!
